For the first time in its 98 year history – Rotary conducted their annual installation of the new president, officers and board of directors, using Zoom, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While a few members were able to attend the event, wearing mask and observing social distancing, others elected to stay home and participate by Zoom.

The Rotary Club of Huntsville installed the 2020-21 Officers and Board of Directors on July 1 at Elkins Lake Club:  President, Todd Armstrong; President-Elect, John Hendricks; Vice President, David Thompson; Secretary, Michelle Lyons; Treasurer, Marjolein Lemmon; Past President, Li-Jen Lester; Directors: Bill Green, Nelson Amaya, Daniel Bayes, Carol Mattingly, Joe Agins (Sgt. Li-Jen Lester Received a Paul Harris for her year of service as President

Our Rotary Club has been unable to have regular meetings since March 1, but we continue to conduct our weekly ‘meetings’ through weekly Zoom calls, thanks to Li-Jen Lester, who was our President.  We were able to hold our installation banquet for our new Board of Directors on July 1, also using Zoom.  Li-Jen’s creativity and ingenuity has been instrumental in keeping the club connected during isolation and social distancing.

Due to the financial impact Covid-19 has had on Huntsville businesses, and the uncertainty of having social gatherings, the Rotary Club felt that it would be inappropriate to hold our annual fundraiser WineQuest in February, 2021.  Instead we will be roaring back with WineQuest IV on February 25, 2022 with the theme ‘La vie en rose, a Magical Evening in Paris’’. Plans are already underway to make WineQuest IV bigger and better as a double celebration; 2022 is the 100th anniversary of the chartering of the Rotary Club of Huntsville.
