D5910 will have its first “Rotary Friendship Exchange” (RFE) for two weeks this Fall. The RFE will be with D7815 (North Atlantic Rotary) from September 28 through October 11, 2025. This is the period after the end of the tourist season and before the weather turns colder. The fall foliage will be at its best.

An RFE consists of a team of Rotarians and their spouse/partner/friend traveling to another district for a brief stay, to be lodged in host Rotarian homes while traveling together around their district. While there are different kinds of RFE’s (cultural, fellowship, service, vocational), this will be a “fellowship” exchange. In this type of exchange, we come to know each other’s lives and families and foster long-term friendships and international understanding. We will visit Rotary Club meetings and some social gatherings in different locations, as well as other sights and attractions in the beautiful Nova Scotia region.

Normally, an RFE is what the name implies--an exchange of teams between two districts. However, after consulting with our counterparts in D7815, we have learned that they do not wish to send a team here at this time. Nevertheless, D7815 will happily host our team.

Our RFE team members will be free to enlarge their stay on the front or back ends of the exchange trip, but will travel on their own during those times.

The cost of the exchange trip will be borne by the D5910 exchange group and the host Rotarians. No Rotary International or D5910 funds will be used.

Due to limitations in the host district, our team will be limited to 12 persons (6 beds per host locale). The team will be selected by the DGE (Charles Gilliland) and his Rotary Fellowship Exchange Chair (John Delaney) from written applications that must be submitted by May 1.

See the application form elsewhere on the website with more details. U.S. passports will be the only necessary travel documents.
