Rotary District 5910:
This is the official notice that District Governor Doris Lockey has issued a request for all clubs in the district to propose individuals to serve as the District Governor-Nominee-Designate (DGN-D) position, which will determine the governor for our district during the 2018-2019 Rotary Year.  As the Immediate Past District Governor, I, Don Taylor will serve as the Chair of the District Governor-Nominee Committee. 
 
The current Governor succession is as follows:
2015-2016 Doris Lockey – Rotary Club of Lake Conroe
2016-2017 Gig Langston – Rotary Club of Angelina (Lufkin)
2017-2018 Rhonda Herrington – Rotary Club of Palestine
2018-2019 to be determined
 
The application period for District Governor for the Rotary Year 2018-2019 is now open and will remain so through December 31, 2015.

Candidate Qualifications
For the purpose of complying with Article 13 (13.020), of the Bylaws of Rotary International in selecting a District Governor-Nominee a district nominating committee procedure shall be used.  The qualifications of candidates for District Governor-Nominee shall be as set out in Article 15 (15.070) of the Bylaws of Rotary International.  A candidate shall be selected by a nominating committee procedure in accordance with Article 13 (13.010) of the Bylaws of Rotary International.
 
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee shall consist of the immediate Past District Governor, who shall serve as the chairperson of the committee, plus one (1) Rotarian from each area of the district represented by an Assistant Governor.  These members shall be active members of a club in the district and shall be well-informed about Rotary and Rotarians in the district.  In order to help insure that they are well informed, they shall have served a full term as a club president prior to their service on the committee.  Additionally, they should be active at the district level as evidenced by their attendance at three (3) of the (5) five district conferences immediately preceding their service on the committee.
 
Qualification Interview
The committee may request that those individuals proposed by clubs to serve as District Governor-Nominee be present at a meeting of the committee to be interviewed concerning their qualifications for the position.  Current plans are for the Nominating Committee to interview qualified candidates following the District Mid-Year Meeting in Woodville on February 6, 2016
