Rotarians Fred Sandberg of Santa Fe and Jay Carnes of Texas City set up a tour of Galveston for Rotary District 5910 leadership which included District Governor Roger McCabe and Past District Governor Hugh Summers, the Rotary District 5910 Emergency Response Chairmanand Assistant Governor Ulli Budlemann of Galveston.

Disaster areas of Galveston, Jefferson, and Orange counties are home to 18 of the 42 Rotary Clubs in District 5910.  District Governor Roger McCabe reports the committee is exploring ways to help.  "We are not experts in the area of disaster, but we know people who are and we are trying to partner with these experts to provide the much needed help for the disaster area.  Following Hurricane Rita, District 5910 established a foundation Rotary District 5910 Donor Advised Fund for disaster relief.  An initial donation of $5,000 has been made from the foundation.  A check for $5000 was given to the American Red Cross in AndersonCounty.  This donation helped cover the cost of sheltering 475 people in the Palestine area after Hurricane Ike swept through Texas.

Donations may be made by check to the Texas Area Fund Foundation, Inc., District 5910 Advised Fund and mailed to P. O. Box 1399, Palestine, Texas  75802-1399.
